healthcare to people that were working in the gold mines and on the rail roads. and this is something that many generations of immigrants to come to this country have learned about, even in a wonderful city, and ininclusive city like san francisco. so it is in the backdrop that all of us have come together to support moderization of our central healthcare system. and we know how valuable the chinese hospital has been to this community. but now, today, it is more valuable not just for people who live in china town, it is an extremely valuable center where all of the doctors have come and the clinicians and the wonderful service to come here throughout san francisco are, whether it is in the richmond, or the sunset, or the bay view or visitation valley as well as here in china town. i want to thank the leadership of the chinese hospital, their board of trustees. i know that james has been leading this effort and rose pack has been leading this effort for so many years. it has been my personal pleasure to have contributed to the way that i have felt comfortable with, which is the annual

sticker. let me give you a little update on our hospitals and healthcare facilities. the 17 chronic healthcare facilities in zone a had to be evacuated. you will see cert teams, fire department, ambulances moving together. we want to make sure that these people are moved safely and some of them require extra care while we do that. most of the patients are moved to other chronic care facilities. some were moved to the cities seven shelters. all of these patients are safe and being cared for. there were no storm related deaths from any of the evacuated facilities. i want to thank the federal department of health and human services for sending teams to help run the special needs shelters. the shelters are intended for short-term use so we will be relocating these stations to longer-term facilities by this weekend, perhaps saturday. and -- three hospitals downtown had to be evacuated. one of the cities main hospitals had to be evacuated. that is almost completed good bellevue will now have to evacuate becauseeof damage it sustained. when they got into the basement, they realized there w

that concept during the healthcare debate and we're struggling with it again today. but the payoff is worth the fight. and now is the time to take action. and to finally create a national energy policy which i think we should call our new manhattan project. at a minimum, it would do a national energy policy would do four things. first, it would create demand for renewable energy. we could start by deciding to get 25% of our energy from renewable resources by 2025. then ratchet it up from there. second, a national energy policy would make key investments in research and technology and in this antiquated energy infrastructure with things like smart grid technology to transport renewable energy. third, an energy policy has to be conservative. to save energy, to conserve, to find ways to use it efficiently and sparingly. and finally a national energy policy would enlist private businesses to manufacture the products that create and generate renewable energy. things like solar panels, wind turbines, they should be made here in america. we shouldn't have to buy them from finland or from
